WeWork, the global company which provides shared workspace and community for entrepreneurs and small businesses, has recently confirmed opening a large facility in Lincoln Square, Bellevue’s office high-rise.
When it opens in 2017, this will be the fourth WeWork facility in the Seattle region but the first outside of downtown. This expansion is designed to boost the city of Bellevue but creating an innovation center where companies, small businesses, entrepreneurs and startups can lease office space and work together. Nearly half of all WeWork members do business together.
This is just one of the many expansions that Bellevue will be undergoing within the next five years. With Bellevue’s new Spring District, companies such as the Global Innovation Exchange will feature a high profile research center. This falls in line with Bellevue’s opportunity to expand education, innovation and businesses. Lincoln Square is an ideal location for these members who want workspaces on both sides of Lake Washington.
WeWorks has designed their area to be bike and pet-friendly and will have outdoor terraces, innovative workspaces and offices with both mountain and lake views. A sky bridge will connect the building to Bellevue Square for restaurants, shops and the mall in general.
There’s also talk about two anticipated Seattle projects including a 36 story tower planned for Belltown. However, WeWork has yet to make a statement on this project bad has said that this will be a co-working space featuring the company’s new, co-living business called WeLive. This will be close to the companies existing work space in Ballard.
WeWork is not just for small businesses and startups as Microsoft also leases space in the Seattle Lake Union building.
